Japanese garden with waterfall in Zwolle
In Zwolle, we were invited to create a Japanese garden.
Output situation with clay, in which we cannot work. We had the garden excavated and filled with drainage sand to make it workable.
A white plain is the result and dry feet.
Where the pond comes in, we still encounter the clay again.
We install the bottom drains.
And make sure the base gets dry again.
The first layer shows the shape well.
Once the pond is level, we can backfill and use the machines to do the rest of the work.
The now-famous retaining walls stand again.
We will have the foil for the pond welded in to size on site.
Filling out the base can begin with the right soil mix.
The highest point has been reached.
With large boulders, sometimes too big for 1 machine, we create an imposing waterfall.
With a foil underlay, we brick up the entire waterfall
“Thinking” like water, we try to direct the course of the waterfall.
A large overhanging stone gives an extremely natural look.
The pond’s edge finish also gets the result.
A combination of clean lines and natural stones form the top edge.
The connection to the pond is extremely important to avoid losing water.

The water may come.

In spring, we stick up the planting work.
A nice pinus ( Niwaki) immediately gives it the right look.
A combination of evergreens with beautifully coloured maples for autumn.
If this grows for a year, the whole garden will be dense.
